What we get called about
The problems plumbers in Essex see most often
After twenty years in the same corner of the county, the same handful of jobs come up again and again. Here is what they usually turn out to be.
Blocked drains that keep coming back
A drain that blocks twice in a year is not a drain that needs clearing again — it is a drain with something wrong with it. Roots through a joint, a section that has dropped and lost its fall, or deformed pitch-fibre pipe will all catch debris repeatedly. We clear it, then show you what is causing it with a camera so you can decide once.
Water you cannot stop
Burst pipes, failed flexible tap connectors and split washing machine hoses do more damage in ten minutes than most jobs we quote for. Turn off the stop tap, then call us. If you cannot find the stop tap, tell us and we will talk you through it.
Weak showers and poor hot water
Usually one of three things: a gravity-fed system with the loft tank sitting too low, an incoming supply pipe that cannot deliver enough flow, or limescale narrowing the pipework. South Essex is a hard water area, so the third is more common here than people expect. We measure before recommending anything.
Bathrooms that have quietly reached the end
A bathroom fitted twenty-five years ago may still look acceptable while the shower valve, the waste seals and the sealant behind the bath are all failing. That is where the slow leaks that rot floors come from. If yours is that age, it is worth a look before it becomes a floor job.
Frequently asked questions
Plumbers in Essex: your questions answered
Which areas of Essex do you cover?
We are based in South Ockendon and cover Thurrock, the Havering border, the A13 and A127 corridors and out into south and mid Essex, plus parts of London and north Kent. See the full list of areas we cover for your town.
Do you charge for a call out or a quote?
Quotations for planned work such as a bathroom installation or a drainage repair are free and come with no obligation. Emergency call outs are chargeable, and we will tell you the rate on the phone before we set off — never after we arrive.
How quickly can you attend an emergency?
For genuine emergencies such as a burst pipe or flooding drainage we aim to attend the same day, and we prioritise by severity. Call 07497 377 123 and we will give you a realistic arrival time rather than a vague window.
Are you insured?
Yes. We carry public liability insurance and work to current regulations on every job. If you would like to see the paperwork before we start, just ask — we are happy to provide it.
Do you work at weekends and out of hours?
Yes. Our normal hours are 7am to 9pm seven days a week, and we take emergency call outs outside those hours. Out-of-hours attendance is charged at a higher rate, which we will confirm before attending.
Can you handle both the plumbing and the drainage side of a job?
Yes, and that is the point of the name. A lot of problems sit on the boundary between the two — a slow-draining bath, a smell in a bathroom, water appearing where it should not. We diagnose and fix both rather than passing you to someone else halfway through.
